Banana Yoshimoto is so charming and also pretty bizarre. well perhaps only moderately strange really. She touches on difficult topics and dips into the unusual. I only wish she'd dip a little more. I really liked this book but I almost wanted her to cross the line and take us to parallel universe or something. Hey, I'm not so literary nor am I the best book critic, but let me just say that this one was such a smooth and enjoyable read that I recommend it strongly for those looking for a little off kilter novel.
